Ringing in the New Year!
The New Year is upon us and 2022 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for our spa partners as more states come online, students enroll, more graduate, and get to work! December has been a banner month for enrollments and we are grateful for the collaborative work between our Enrollment Managers and partners. Our efforts to reduce the barrier of entry to the lucrative field of massage therapy only work with your partnership!
Below is the current list of states where our program is active. If you are in one of these states and are not signed up yet, give us a shout and we can start the process (for UPDATED details on how to start, see below). There has been some great progress on the roadmap to state approval for all the other states.
Your marketing is working and Enrollment managers are doing their job in converting those quality leads into prospective students. They have reached out to you about a”Meet and Greet Interview” with the interested individual but what does that mean?
Spa managers, owners, and staff have the opportunity to meet with and interview prospective students, since they will ultimately be working for you. This is described as a “meet and greet” interview which is different from a job interview. The candidates won’t have any knowledge of massage or the industry yet but this interview is a chance to get to know them before offering a scholarship for the training. You can note whether or not they were on time or dressed appropriately. This can be a great opportunity to ask general questions to get a sense of whether or not they will fit in with your team. When you decide that you want to offer them the scholarship or not, you just let the Enrollment Manager know and they will communicate directly with the prospective student and help them through the next steps.

The top New Year’s resolutions include spending more time with family, financial success, and reducing stress on the job. These are all great things to point as benefits of becoming a licensed massage therapist when marketing your scholarship opportunity. As the target market thinks about what they want their life to look like in the coming year, highlight how the scholarship removes the biggest barrier to entry in this industry, the cost of training. And January is Financial Wellness Month and “Hunt for Happiness Week” is January 16-22, 2022, recognizing the reality of post-holiday blues and encouraging people to define their idea of happiness, which may well include starting a fulfilling career at your spa!
As social media channels come under more scrutiny, they may make it more difficult to promote the scholarship opportunity as a job post. We are reviewing all the new changes related to social media job postings and will report back what we learn. Reminder, spas should not be advertising for instructors as they are contractors through MPower.
We all have a lot going on during the holidays. It can be hard to stay focused but we are happy to hear from our Education Team that students are excited about getting back to training!
